Blue Turtle Physio Monthly Blog: Growing, Moving and Looking Ahead

Issue 2

The second month since opening Blue Turtle Physiotherapy has been busy, and I couldn't be more grateful. It's been fantastic to see so many familiar faces returning alongside welcoming lots of new patients through the clinic doors.

As the clinic continues to grow, so does the schedule! This month has been all about expanding, helping more people, and continuing to build a space where recovery, movement and wellbeing come first.

Here's a look back at what's been happening this month.

Reflecting on Month Two

After an exciting first month, June into July has been even busier than I imagined.

Thanks to the continued support from my patients and the local community, I've expanded my clinic days and am now available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and one Saturday each month. It's been amazing to offer more appointment availability and continue helping people recover from injury, reduce pain, and return to doing the things they love.

Every week reminds me why I started Blue Turtle Physiotherapy. Whether someone is taking their first steps after an injury, returning to sport, or simply wanting to move more comfortably, it's a privilege to be part of that journey.

The clinic continues to feel like the calm, welcoming environment I hoped it would become, and I'm so thankful for everyone who has supported the business so far.

Clinic Update:

From now on, Saturday appointments will include a £10 surcharge in addition to the standard treatment fee. This helps reflect the limited availability of weekend appointments while continuing to provide flexible options for those unable to attend during the week.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Injuries I've Treated This Month

Every patient has their own story, goals and recovery journey. Here are some of the conditions I've been helping people manage this month.

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (Runner's Knee)

A common cause of pain around the kneecap, particularly during running, squatting, climbing stairs or prolonged sitting. Rehabilitation focused on strengthening the hips and legs, improving movement patterns and gradually returning patients to activity.

Achilles Tendinopathy

Several patients presented with persistent Achilles pain affecting walking, running and sport. Treatment focused on deep tissue massage, acupuncture, progressive loading exercises, calf strengthening, education and careful activity modification to improve tendon health.

Arthritis in the Hands

Hand arthritis can significantly impact everyday tasks such as gripping, writing and opening jars. Treatment included advice, acupuncture, electrical stimulation, mobility exercises, strengthening, pain management strategies and improving hand function.

Vertigo

I also treated patients experiencing dizziness and balance problems caused by vertigo. Following assessment, treatment included appropriate repositioning techniques where indicated, alongside education and exercises to improve balance and confidence.

Patient Success Story: Tilly’s Achilles Recovery Journey

This month I wanted to share a special patient journey that highlights exactly why rehabilitation is such an important part of recovery.

Back in February, Tilly ruptured her Achilles tendon while playing football against Wolves Women. This was a huge setback, not only physically but also personally, as the injury had a significant impact on her everyday life and her role as a teacher.

Tilly started attending weekly physiotherapy sessions with me at the end of April. At this stage of her recovery, she was still using crutches and was unable to walk upstairs using her injured leg, she was having to hop her way up.

Our early focus was on supporting the healing process through gentle massage, mobilisation, restoring movement, and gradually rebuilding confidence in her injured leg. Recovery from an Achilles rupture is a long journey, requiring patience, consistency and trust in the process.

Fast forward to this week, and the progress has been amazing. Tilly is now completely off her crutches, confidently mobilising up and down stairs, and completing a comprehensive strength programme every week to continue rebuilding capacity in her tendon.

She has also started a phased return to work, which is a huge milestone considering how much this injury affected her daily routine and independence.

We are now focusing on the next stages of rehabilitation, including breaking down scar tissue, improving tendon mobility, increasing strength, and continuing to build confidence with movement.

A massive shout out to Tilly for the dedication, commitment and determination she has shown throughout her rehab. Injuries like this can feel overwhelming, but her consistency and hard work have been incredible to watch.

I can’t wait to see her progress further!

Keep going Tilly, you’re smashing it!

Wellness Tip of The Month:

'Movement is Medicine!'

One of the most powerful things you can do for your physical and mental health is simply to keep moving.

Movement doesn't have to mean intense workouts or hours in the gym. It can be as simple as going for a walk, stretching while the kettle boils, taking the stairs instead of the lift, dancing in your kitchen, or getting outside for some fresh air.

Regular movement can:

  • Reduce aches and stiffness.

  • Improve joint mobility and muscle strength.

  • Boost energy levels.

  • Improve mood and reduce stress.

  • Support better sleep.

  • Help manage many long-term conditions.

The hardest part is often getting started, but people rarely regret moving once they've done it. Start small, be consistent and choose activities you genuinely enjoy. Your body was designed to move—and it will thank you for it.

*Remember: doing something is almost always better than doing nothing.*

Thank You to Everyone

Whether you've booked an appointment, recommended me to family or friends, liked a social media post or simply followed the journey from the beginning it genuinely means the world.

Running a small business is incredibly rewarding, and every bit of support helps it continue to grow.

A Motivational Quote

If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. It's the hard that makes it great."
