At Blue Turtle Physiotherapy & Wellness Clinic, my approach has always been simple: treat the person in front of me, not just the symptoms they arrive with.
Pain, tension, and injury are rarely one-dimensional. They’re influenced by how we move, how we rest, how stressed we are, how strong or resilient our bodies feel, and sometimes how long we’ve been pushing through without support. Over time, I’ve found that the most effective care often comes from having more than one way to help the body settle, recover, and rebuild.
That’s why I’ve recently expanded my services to include Medical Acupuncture and Remedial Massage, alongside physiotherapy, not as quick fixes, but as additional tools to support recovery, movement, and overall wellbeing.
Many Ways to Support You
Some people respond best to exercise-based rehabilitation. Others need hands-on treatment to reduce pain or muscle tension before movement feels possible. Many need a combination of both.
There is no single “right” treatment and that’s an important thing to understand when navigating pain or discomfort. My role is to help guide that decision, based on your body, your symptoms, and your goals.
Medical acupuncture and remedial massage allow me to tailor treatment more precisely, rather than fitting everyone into the same approach.
What Is Medical Acupuncture?
Medical acupuncture is an evidence-based treatment used by trained healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists. It is grounded in Western medical principles and focuses on how the nervous system processes pain, muscle tension, and sensitivity.
I trained in acupuncture with the AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists), ensuring it is delivered safely, clinically, and appropriately.
Medical acupuncture may be helpful for:
Persistent or recurrent pain
Muscle tightness or guarding
Joint pain
Headaches or neck-related tension
Pain that feels “stuck” or slow to settle
Acupuncture has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where the body is viewed as an interconnected system. In this model, health is supported by the smooth flow of Qi (often described as energy) through pathways known as meridians. When this flow becomes disrupted through stress, injury or illness pain or dysfunction may develop.
Importantly, it’s always discussed with you first, it’s an option, not an obligation.
What Is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage is a targeted, therapeutic form of soft tissue treatment designed to support recovery, ease muscular discomfort, and improve movement.
This isn’t spa-style massage. It’s purposeful, tailored, and focused on how your body feels and functions.
Remedial massage may be suitable if you:
Carry ongoing tension from work, training, or stress
Feel stiff or restricted without a clear injury
Are physically active and need recovery support
Want hands-on treatment to complement physiotherapy
Are looking for maintenance care to stay well and moving
It can be booked as a standalone treatment or used alongside physiotherapy, depending on what your body needs at the time.
How Do You Know What’s Right for You?
A physiotherapy assessment is often the best starting point. It allows me to understand what’s driving your symptoms and decide whether physiotherapy alone, or physiotherapy combined with acupuncture or remedial massage, is the most appropriate path.
If your main goal is relief from muscle tension, stress, or general discomfort, remedial massage may be exactly what you need.
And sometimes, your needs will change over time and that’s okay. Bodies are not static, and care shouldn’t be either.
